When you hear Vietnamese food, I'm sure what comes to mind is Pho. Well we brought my cousin, her daughter and the rest of their family along with four of us. Brodard's is not just Pho. This location in Fountain Valley gets very busy so I joined the Yelp waitlist which was perfect. We probably had a five minute wait when we arrived. Our family favorites here is the Shaken beef with garlic noodles and the pork spring Rolls and also the traditional Vietnamese Shrimp Spring Rolls. They are so efficient here. We ordered a lot of food and I don't think there were any errors in our orders. Needless to say everyone loved the food. For a party of nine, our total check was very reasonable. Can't wait to come back again.
We stopped by to pick up nem nuong cuon because they are soooo delicious here...especially with that crack sauce! We always crave these rolls back home and want them every SoCal trip. I stopped in and grabbed some extra orders to take back home to the family. One order of 4 rolls is $10. The presentation is beautiful. If you have not been to this newer location, WOW, you are in for a treat since I was impressed with their efficiency. Upon entering, there is a line for phone-in orders. We had called in our orders before heading this way. After paying, we were promptly handed our orders and on our way. They sell 2 lbs of their nem nuong for $20, and if you want a side of the sauce with the nem nuong, then it's $22. I was very shocked by the amount of sauce they gave us as I looked at the frozen brick. We will definitely be back for some more nem nuong rolls!!! Really wish we had something like this back home...
Brodard has the BEST grilled pork springs rolls around!! I can't stop thinking about them because the unique crunch they add inside and their sweet and sour sauce. I also recommend the lemongrass chicken. It was my first time trying it and I would definitely get it again. Service was good and quick. The restaurant has a booked-and-busy feel but it's clean and the vibes are nice. Ugh, still thinking about the grilled pork springs rolls.
To start out with we were in one of the most congested seating areas. We were positioned right by the front, next to the front door. With people waiting to be seated, some of them even let their kid sit at our table without saying anything. One couple even was asking what I was eating. Hahaha Now our waiter would check in on us which was nice. Although at times I think the servers felt it was ok for us to pass things down the table. So I had mixed feelings about the service. If we want to talk about the food. The Eggrolls and Shrimp Spring rolls were good, but the pork spring rolls, was not what I would have expecting. They were more like hotdog spring rolls. Not that they tasted bad, just not what I expected. As for my entree, it came out piping hot and was super tasty. Although the flat iron steak and eggs was a bit of a small portion compared to everyone else's dishes. The baguette was nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Paired with the cheese and pate it was quite tasty with the grilled onions. Now the steak and eggs had a wonderful sauce which I really enjoyed. Hence the thought of the steaks being a bit too small, as I would of liked to have more steak. Overall I would definitely go back and try their other dishes, but the dining experience was just a bit awkward. Enjoy.....
Good food here. Ordered: Nem Nuong Cuon - 1 per person Vegetarian Clay Pot - savory rice topped with onions, carrots, peas Banh Xeo with Pork & Shrimp Rice Paper - 6 count comes with the hot water While I enjoyed everything I ordered, the crispy part of the Nem Nuong Cuon tasted like it had been fried in older oil. Not everyone eats Banh Xeo with rice paper, but it was the way I was taught in order to keep your hands clean. Service was very attentive. Arriving on a Thursday at 5pm meant no wait.
By far, one of the best places to get spring rolls! You might think that it is just a regular spring roll, but once you take that first bite, you'll realize that it's the best one you've ever had. It has literally everything a normal spring roll has, but rather than putting noodles in it, they put fried egg roll wrappers that add a crispy texture to it. On top of that, their sauce seems to look like a sweet 'n sour, but it's a nice light sauce that has a hint of sweetness. On top of that, we ordered the crispy noodles and the lemongrass chicken. The crispy noodles are pretty self explanatory. Crispy noodles topped with a nice gravy sauce with seafood and veggies. The steaming hot sauce hydrates the crispy noodles making it soft and creating a soft and crispy texture. The lemongrass chicken was my favorite. If you love the taste of lemongrass, you'll love the taste of this dish. It's served with rice as well, and the chicken is crunchy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. Service-wise, they are pretty quick, but maybe have a lot of tables to handle. They try their best to attend to you needs, but they're probably caught up with other tasks. I thought this was a casual place to eat, but it seems like everyone was dressed up a little fancier than casual. Maybe it was because it was Sunday and they came from church or something? They were forsure wearing their Sunday clothes. But try this place out and order a bunch of food you don't about because you'll most likely enjoy it and it'll be delicious. Don't forget to order them spring rolls! It's mando
This was my second time visiting this location. The first time, we ordered the pork spring rolls to go, because we did not want to wait. The second time was today with family and decided to dine it. I got on the waitlist shortly after 11 am, and it still took over an hour to get a table for 5 people. I saw a table that was empty for a long time and was told that table was for 6 people, but I didn't see on the waitlist for 6 people before my name. The table we ended up with still could sit 6 people. The 6 person party seated before us were not even a complete group. Anyway, I ordered the beef lemongrass vermicelli, which was tasty and tender, but eventually got salter as I kept eating it. The service was quick in taking orders, bringing out the food, and cleaning up. I think the long wait will deter me from dining in the future. I will order the spring rolls to go the next time I'm in the area.
According to my friends, this is a "must stop" when traveling around this area. The must get item? Their spring rolls - and now I completely understand why this is the case! My friends and I needed some quick bites before a concert (to carb up lol), so my friend recommended this place. We bought a dozen pork spring rolls which came out to around $32. As we were eating, the car was in complete silence. It was the kind of silence needed when you're absolutely blown away by the flavor of something. Wow! The spring roll was perfectly balanced, teetering sweet, fresh, and savory flavors with crunchy and spongy textures. The pork was perfectly seasoned and delicious. Everything complimented each flavor so well. But the glue that really sealed the deal with the dipping sauce! I will be dreaming of this sauce for a while! I have had my fair share of spring rolls all over the San Diego area, and nothing touches these spring rolls by a long shot. I did not have a chance to dine-in, but I did see an incredibly long line (nothing new for this area, though it might surprise San Diego visitors). Long lines tend to be a good sign. Ordering over the phone was quick, and the person who helped us over the phone was kind and direct - you can tell they were busy, but the customer service was not compromised. Though this review is only considering that I ate their spring rolls, I am giving this place an easy 5/5. This is now in my rotation of must-gets when I am in the Westminster area!
